Sachin Pilot Biography: Sachin Pilot is a dynamic Indian politician and one of the most influential leaders of the Indian National Congress (INC). Known for his youthful energy and progressive outlook, he has served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan and continues to play a key role in shaping the political landscape of the state. He is the son of the late veteran Congress leader Rajesh Pilot, who was a respected Union Minister.
Early Life and Education
Sachin Rajesh Pilot was born on September 7, 1977, in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Coming from a family deeply rooted in Indian politics, he was inspired by his father’s dedication to public service.
He completed his schooling at Air Force Bal Bharati School, New Delhi, earned a Bachelor’s degree in Arts (B.A.) from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, and pursued an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA.
Before entering politics, Pilot gained professional experience working with BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) and General Motors, which provided him with a global perspective on communication and management.
In 2012, he was commissioned as an officer in the Territorial Army and currently serves as a Captain, making him one of the few politicians with active military service.
Political Career
Sachin Pilot began his political journey at a young age, following in his father’s footsteps.
- 2004 – Elected to the 14th Lok Sabha from Dausa at just 26 years old, becoming one of the youngest MPs in India.

- Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology

After the Congress lost power in 2014, Pilot was appointed as President of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (RPCC). His leadership helped rejuvenate the party in Rajasthan, paving the way for Congress’s victory in the 2018 state elections.
In 2018, he was elected as MLA from Tonk and took office as the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan under Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
However, in July 2020, after a political disagreement within the party, he was removed from both the Deputy CM position and the state party presidency. Despite this setback, he maintained his influence within the party and continued to represent the people of Tonk.
